Featured Collab:
Prost Brewing & Templin Family Brewing (Utah):
Beer Style: Pilsner
Beer Name: Wet Hop Pilsner
Behind The Scenes of the Collab:
For this brew, the brewers used wet hop Spalter Select hops from a farm in Germany. The process will be open fermented, horizontally lagered, naturally carbonated and polish filtered. Templin Family Brewing and Prost both specialize in traditional brewing and this was an excellent opportunity to showcase that shared love for a ✨clean complex lager bier✨
Brewery | Additional Breweries | Beer Name | Beer Style | Category | Estimated ABV | Behind The Scenes Story on the Collab! |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Danico | Drekker (ND) | What Would Marge Do? | Raspberry Lemonade Sour | Sour! | 8 | A friendship developed by visits to Danico Brewing, this idea was developed over the course of months via in-person and email communication. The beer celebrates one of the many styles these two breweries like to brew. |
Crooked Stave | Casey, Bale Breaker (WA) | The Golden Rule | Hazy IPA | Hops | 7.2 | A hazy IPA that blend aspects of what each of the three breweries do very well. Crooked Stave and Casey and Crooked Stave Artisans and Bale Breaker have great relationships, so we decided to blend the friendship. |
Odd 13 | Streetside (OH) | Surfer Boy Kolsch | West Coast Kolsch | Light, Hops | 4.8 | Streetside is a favorite around Odd13, particularly when the creative minds behind the brands/labels started working together, striking gold with Stranger Things themes. For this years collab, the beer we kept coming back to was a West Coast Kolsch with Surfer Boy Pizza vibes, so here we are, with a splash of New Zealand hops complimenting two traditional European varietals. |
Woods Boss | Silver Moon (OR) | Stihl Crazy (after all these years) | Norwegian Farmhouse w/ Ponderosa Pine Tree | International | 6.2 | We became friends with Silver Moon through our common distributor and wanted to make a killer and unique beer together! We decided to revisit a project we had done for Collab Fest back in 2019 where we cut down a live pine tree and used it in the brewing process. We run hot wort from the kettle down a channel of a 12' section of the trunk during the boil to pull in the character of the tree. It will be a citrusy Norwegian Farmhouse/Saison as we are blending a Kveik strain with French Saison Yeast |
Prost | Templin Family (UT) | Wet Hop Pilsner | Pilsner | Light, International | 4.9 | We are using wet hop spalter select hops from the farm in Germany. The process will be open fermented, horizontally lagered, naturally carbonated and polish filtered. Templin Family Brewing and Prost both specialize in traditional brewing and this was an excellent opportunity to showcase that shared love for clean complex lager bier. |
Bruz | Ardennes (NY) | Green Ghost Tripel | Belgian Tripel | International | 10.5 | This is the second year we've collabed with our Belgian kindred spirits from the finger lakes in New York. This year we got a hankering for a hoppy tripel... so we made it. |
Joyride | Stemma (WA) | Observation Bubble | Red IPA | Hops, Dark | 5.2 | Stemma's Pat McNerney and Joyride's Tyler Bies were both formally Head Brewers at Denver's Wit's End Brewing and have kept in touch over the years. They decided to rebrew one of Wit's End's staple recipes, Green Man, but put their own modern twist on it. Using RedX malt for color and a blend of Citra, Vista, and Columbus Cryo for the hops. |
Cheluna | Oaxaca (Mexico) | Red Tepache Sour | Sour | Sour! | 5 | We've been planning a collab with Cheluna for some time. This year we made it happen and we are including cochineal, a traditional natural dye used in Oaxaca and tepache in our recipe. |
Comrade | La Cumbre (NM) | Prom Date | West Coast IPA | Hops | 5.7 | Prom Date is a West Coast IPA made with the latest advanced hop products. We've been collaborating with La Cumbre since 2017 and would definitely take them to the prom. We love The Burque and keeping tabs on who does chiles and IPAs better. |
New Image | Breakside (OR) | Geographically Misleading | Double Dry Hopped West Coast IPA | Hops | 6.5 | With this collaboration, we are digging into the essence of what makes Breaksides west coast IPAs some of the best in the country. We are using some of their selected lots of Simcoe Cryo and Krush Cryo in addition to Oregon grown Centennial from Crosby and taking inspiration from their approach to water and dry hopping. |
4 Noses | Pipeworks (IL) | Spiralling Upwards | IPA with Wood Spires | Hops, Weird | 6.5 | 4 Noses & Pipeworks felt a little inclined to make an IPA, but how would it be different? Playing off what the two of us have been most excited about in IPA, Thiols (responsible for the characteristic tropical fruit notes, such as grapefruit, passion fruit, and guava, that are often associated with hop-forward beers, particularly those with New Zealand hops) and Wood Spires in clean beers. |
Hello Brew | Roses by the Stairs (AZ) | Wolves at Night | Mexican Dark Lager | Dark | 7.3 | We made this with a great friend that brewed with us in Spokane when we first started the Hello concept. We were lucky enough to brew a batch of this first in Arizona, going as far as packing some malt from Troubadour to brew with in AZ. We will take elements from the batch we brew and replicate it here. |
Telluride | Good People (AL), Moe's Original BBQ (sponsor) | Moe's Original GoodRide Lager | West Coast Pils | Hops, Light | 5.4 | West Coast Pils brewed with Cryo-Columbus, Krush and Nectaron. This is a celebration of Telluride Launching distribution in Alabama, Western Georgia and the Panhandle of Florida! We decided to bring Moe's to the party so we could have launch events at our favorite BBQ joints in South as well as here in Colorado! |
Liquid Mechanics | Burgeon Beer (CA) | West Coast Cartel | West Coast IPA | Hops | 7 | We met the Burgeon crew on a recent trip to Los Angeles. They make some of the best IPAs in the world |
Wibby | Seapine (WA) | Rock Maibock | Steinbier Maibock | International, Light | 7.2 | We have had a deep connection to this Seattle-based brewery for over 9 years. The reason we met was as much of a heart melting as it is a serendipitous one where forged friendships through raw and uncertain times over our passion, excellent beer. When we got to brew together for the first time we wanted make it as hot and memorable as possible to set our connection in stone. to Fiery chunks of granitic stones raised to scorching temps of 600+degrees over fine cherry wood. |
Cohesion | Schilling (NH) | La Follette 9° | Leichtbier | International | 3.9 | We worked with our lager loving friends at Schilling to make our first German lager! This light and refreshing beer has historically been made for field and factory workers to quench their thirst without as much risk to safety. We crafted ours with the idea of delivering full flavor in a small beer package! |
Primitive | Brewery Novalis (NY) | Human Construct | SponSponBingBong Finished in Earl Grey Gin Casks | Sour! | 6.8 | Human Construct is our Golden Blend, a multi-year ensemble with a weighted average age >34 months at bottling, finished in Earl Grey Gin Casks from The Family Jones Distillery. Our long time friend and Director of Production/Co-Founder/Co-Owner of Brewery Novalis in NY came out to select specific barrels for this collaboration. We chose to blend puncheons of extra mature spon from batches that utilized high hopping rates and extra long marathon boils (>12hrs boil time) to match caramelization flavors of burnt honey, toasted orange peel, and toffee, to meld with finishing cask notes reminiscent of bright and lively candied lemon, spicy black tea, and undertones of cedar and smoke. When you bring fellow blenders of SponSponBingBong together, magical mixtures emerge, as arbitrary boundaries are just a Human Construct! |
Bootstrap | Citizen 33 (ID) | Into the Smoke and Smoke | Smoked English Mild | Dark | 4 | Able and I were colleagues over a decade ago and friends ever since but we never got the chance to brew a beer together. Milds aren't very common in the industry, let alone a smoked versions - and that sounded cool. The beer should be malt forward, crisp and drinkable with a light, pleasant smoked finish. |
Storm Peak | Roadhouse (WY), Melvin (WY), Stillwest (WY), Citizen 33 (ID), Ogden (UT), Western Collective (ID), Snake River (WY), Roy Farms (sponsor) | Get on the bus! | Mountain West Pilsner | Light, Hops | 6.4 | This is an annual collaboration between Ski Town breweries. We brew a beer together and compete in the Brewlympics for the legendary Golden Boot. This year Roy Farms and Prairie Malt sponsored the raw materials and we brewed and competed in Jackson Wyoming. This “Mountain West Pilsner” is a wonderful display of Cascade, Strata, Bravo and Chinook along with some Quantum Brite from Abstrax. |
Purpose | California Wild Ales (CA) | Deviltrekker | Barrel Aged Sour Saison | Light, International, Sour! | 6.6 | Blend of two sours from two experimental small batch barrel-age sour breweries. Zach drove from San Diego to blend with Purpose in Fort Collins. |
WeldWerks | Trillium (MA) | Juicy Tiles | Hazy IPA | Hops | 8.4 | Our friends at Trillium Brewing Company have always led the pack of haze-makers, and we’re thrilled to join forces with them (again!) on this extra special Hazy Double India Pale Ale–complete with Wildflower Honey! This refreshing juice bomb is bursting with the big citrus notes we all know and love and finishes with a light, natural sweetness, courtesy of the locally sourced honey. |
Ratio | ISM (CA) | Local Pandemonium | West Coast Pilsner | Light, Hops | 5.8 | Brewing buddies ISM and Ratio Beerworks have created this awesome West Coast Pils in time for Collabfest! Big time notes of white gummy bears, orange soda and background hashish kick through this banger! |
Odell Five Points | Firestone Walker (CA) | Wandering Don IPA | American IPA | Hops | 7 | Firestone is brewing a larger batch of this collab at their place for a national release in May. We saw this as a great opportunity to brew a small batch version for the fest. |
Mad Macks | Iron Rail (KS) | Orxata | Cream Ale | Light, Normal | 5 | Horchata is a fine balance of cinnamon, sweet, cream. This will bring Horchata to beer life. Jeff and I worked together at Twisted Pine in Boulder and thought this would be a great way to work together again on a fun project. We want people to expect the unexpected. |
Oskar Blues | Cigar City (FL) | There’s Passion In These Jorts | Passionfruit West Coast IPA | Hops | 7.5 | We’re blending two different IPA approaches by creating a Passion Fruit Tropical Hopped West Coast IPA. Cigar City and Oskar Blues are no strangers to hoppy beers so why not create something that hop heads will love! |
Cannonball Creek | Shred (CA) | Alpha Blaster | WCIPA | Hops | 5.8 | Two breweries that share a common passion for West Coast IPA. Long time friends and mutual admirers, this is the first collaboration among these two breweries. Alpha Blaster is a representation of the modern, aggressively hopped, but highly drinkable approach to WCIPA embraced by both breweries. |
